DECADE Elite and is the most sensitive electrochemical detector (ECD) for HPLC. With sensitivity and selectivity unmatched by optical (UV, Fluorescence) or aerosol-based detectors, the ECD lends itself as the best choice for trace analysis of electro active compounds. Specially developed low-pass Advanced Digital Filter (ADF) suppresses noise originating from HPLC and electrochemical flow cell, passing only signals with a frequency lower than a selected cut-off frequency (chromatographic peaks) and attenuating higher frequencies (i.e. noise reduction). The DECADE Elite supports 3 modes of operation: DC, Scan and Pulse. The DC mode is mainly used for high sensitivity applications such as neurotransmitters, vitamins, phenols. The pulse mode (PAD, Pulsed Amperometric Detection) is used for the detection of carbohydrates, antibiotics, etc. The scan mode is used to obtain a voltammogram in method optimization.
Faraday shielded oven compartment of the Decade Elite can accommodate several HPLC columns and flow cells with a temperature up to 60 °C and stability of 0.1°C. SenCell™ is the new generation flow cell designed for highest sensitivity. Its tool-free assembly and the continuously adjustable working volume guarantee ease of use and fast stabilization. The effective volume of the cell can be adjusted between roughly 0 and 300 nL. FlexCell™ offers wide choice of working electrodes: glassy carbon (GC), Au, Ag, Pt, BDD (Boron doped Diamond), etc. Flexcell with easy replaceable gold working electrode is particularly useful for USP/EP methods that still mention the PAD mode with a traditional 3-step pulse.
